Position Overview:
Layfield has an exciting and rewarding opportunity available immediately for a highly motivated Customer Service/Inside Sales Representative. This position will play a key role in providing friendly, professional and responsive customer service support directly to our customers, prospects, suppliers and staff. Directly involved in communicating with clients, providing quotes, order status and responding to their inquiries. Provide sales support to our Sales team and build strong customer relationships to help retain our customers and grow the business.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to customers inquiries for products and services providing production information and pricing.
  • Be the primary internal contact for contractors; provide them with production and shipping schedules and updates
  • Call current customers to verify and qualify contacts & research potential clients to introduce Layfield, identify key contacts and source new business.
  • Ensure that all product descriptions, samples and specification sheets are forwarded to customers when required.
  • Quote prices when available from the Pricelist.
  • Review multiple bid tracking sites for upcoming construction projects.
  • Track municipal and regional district tenders, maintain a list of contractors, issue quotes and follow up with bidders.
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions with clients in the sales database (CRM) and provide weekly reporting as outlined by the Supervisor.
  • Ensure both internal and external customers are kept up to date with new & current products, services and pricing.
  • Work with Sales Manager and Sales Representatives on larger quotes.
  • Pass on leads to the appropriate sales representative.
  • Advise delivery as per production schedules and follow up on committed delivery dates through communication with Department Supervisors and communicate changes to the customer.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain/Shipping for order pick-ups and shipments.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills – written, verbal, and listening.
  • Self-motivated and driven personality but also able to work well within a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude with clients and employees.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Education & Experience:
  • High School Graduate minimum / Post secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration
  • Two (2) to five (5) years Customer Service experience.
