Position Overview:
This position is required to apply professional accounting theories, policies and practices to credit analysis, cost and inventory control, cash flow and accounts receivable functions within the Richmond branch of Layfield Canada Ltd.  This position will also assist and recommend changes to policies and procedures for cash handling within departments and divisions and work with others in all departments to assist, as needed, with issues that arise in the department and/or with external departments and divisions. 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for duties associated with Credit and collections, revenue identification, cost analysis reporting, and reconciliation of CAD, USD customer cash and credit accounts through the SYSPRO reporting system and BMO on-line banking portal.
  • Perform monthly close duties, including general ledger journal entry preparation, variance reporting, reconciliations, and account analysis.
  • Responsible for documenting processes and procedures to support external and internal financial and operational audits.
  • Prepare portion of Layfield Canada financial statements.
  • Also responsible for inventory count reconciliation, adjustments, and reporting.

Required Skills & Knowledge:
  • At least 3+ years accounting experience including month end / year end close, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level Microsoft Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of key accounting concepts and GAAP.
  • Very strong data entry skills (speed and accuracy).
  • Ability to assess and recommend improvements for processes and procedures; willingness to learn new concepts and work with teammates to find solutions.    
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills – Ability to communicate effectively with clients for invoicing and collections.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in an environment with constant interruptions.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 
Three (3) years experience
