Position Description
Layfield Flexible Films is seeking an enthusiastic Accounting Associate to join our accounting team in Richmond BC. This is an 8-month contract position with the possibility of an extension.
You are a team player who wants to work with a talented and diverse group.
You will be responsible for full cycle processing of accounts payable transactions for Layfield Canada Ltd and Layfield Group. Duties include obtaining approvals and then coding, matching, and entry of vendor invoices as well as processing of disbursements in accordance with vendor terms.
You will report to the Accounting Manager and work closely with an Accounts Payable Specialist and a Divisional Accountant.
You will also provide support to the CFO, Supply Chain Manager, Purchasing Coordinator, Operations Manager and Maintenance Manager.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Daily:
- Match invoices with receiving reports / bills of lading. Check for correct application of provincial sales tax.
- Input approved batches. Run Journals.
- Print manual cheques and issue electronic payments and wire transfers as required
- Respond to supplier queries and maintain good vendor relations
Weekly:
- EFT and wire payment documentation for invoices and match cheques and remittance advices to A/P documents and print associated cheque and EFT registers.
- Forward cheques, EFT and wire payment documentation to Regional Accounting Manager and/or VP Finance for approval.
- Follow-up to ensure cheques are signed and mailed, and EFT’s and wire payments are released in a timely manner.
- Post Expense reports into AP vendor accounts.
Semi-monthly:

- At mid-month:
- Run final Trial Balance and aging reports as of the prior month end.
- Run month-end balancing function and reconcile log. Set ledger period flag for prior month to “closed”
- Work with Revenue Accountant to clean up aged GRNs.
- Month End:
- Run Final Trial Balance and aging reports. Run month-end balancing function, run month end purge function, and reconcile log.
- At mid-month:
Education and Experience
Post Secondary business education and 1 to 2 years’ experience.

- Ability to work independently and in an environment with frequent interruptions.
This position works Monday to Friday in Richmond BC, close to transit and hwy. access.
Salary range for this position is $52,000 to $55,000 per year.
