What Success Looks Like at Layfield:
Successful Geomembrane Installations Technicians at Layfield are self-motivated, highly disciplined, enthusiastic team players with previous experience and proficiency in the deployment of materials, installation, welding, as well as, testing and repairing geomembrane liners and installing environmental containment systems.
In addition, the Geomembrane Installation Technician is a safety-focused individual who is adaptable to changing schedules, enjoys working outdoors year-round and is available to travel extensively throughout Canada for up to 24 days at a time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports the deployment of materials.
- Efficient and skilled in the installation and welding of geomembrane liners, as well as the installation of environmental containment systems.
- Under limited supervision, competently sets-up, operates, and maintains all equipment used in the welding and repairing of geomembranes (wedge and extrusion welders, leisters, etc.), ensuring all tools are properly cared for.
- Helps identify recommendations for process/equipment improvements.
- Competently performs and explains quality control testing practices such as tensiometer use, air pressure tests, vacuum box testing, point stress testing, and air lance testing, and the procedures for destructive testing.
- Assists with the mentoring and training of new crew members.
- Works cooperatively with all employees, demonstrates good teamwork, and makes a positive contribution to team morale.
What We Look For:
- Geomembrane Installation Technicians will have minimum 3 years of industry experience.
- Be able and willing to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time up to 24 days.
- Be able to successfully pass pre-employment test as a requirement for site specific access.
- Have a valid driver’s License or government issued photo ID.
- Have the following valid safety tickets/training: CSTS 2020, WHMIS, First Aid, H2S Alive, CSO.
- Be adaptable to changing schedules.
- Enjoy working outdoors.
- Works well within a team environment.
- Be a safety focused individual.
- Possesses good analytical skills and uses sound judgment to resolve issues.
