Layfield Construction Products began as the distribution business of Layfield Plastics in 1978 in Edmonton. The business has grown to include distribution, fabrication, and manufacture of geosynthetic and other polymer based products.
Layfield's construction products supply business started in Edmonton in 1978, expanded to Calgary in 1982, Vancouver in 1986, Seattle in 1991, Toronto in 1997, San Diego in 2005, and Adelaide in 2008. Layfield main distributed products include geosynthetics such as geotextiles, geogrids, erosion control, and silt and sediment control products; polyethylene film tubing and sheeting for construction applications, and industrial fabrics such as tarpaulin and enclosure systems.
Layfield's fabrication business started in Edmonton making sump pit liners for the Alberta oil patch and irrigation canal liners. This grew into a vibrant fabrication business specializing in secondary containment liners, floating covers, and liners for water and waste water containment. Currently Layfield has fabrication facilities in Edmonton, San Diego, and Toronto.
Layfield's polyethylene film manufacturing began in 1983 with the acquisition of Calgary Plastics. Initially film manufacturing was set up in Edmonton but moved to a purpose built plant in Vancouver in 1993. The Vancouver films plant provides construction film to Layfield Construction Products.
