Challenge
Methane capture from household sewage lagoons presents an opportunity to reduce one’s impact on the environment as well as provide an alternative energy source. Methane is produced anaerobically through the bacterial decomposition of organic matter. By covering a sewage lagoon, the gas could be captured and scrubbed for residential use.

Results
Once on site, the cover was installed in two days. The process of installation was quick and efficient, and utilized minimal equipment. While a backhoe was utilized to dig the anchor trench, a simple block and tackle was used to position the cover in place. The capture and collection system performed to a high standard, and biogas was collected.
