ISO Certification for Layfield's Commitment to Quality

August 25, 2009

Richmond, British Columbia – Layfield Vision Packaging, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging solutions, announces that its Richmond, BC conversion plant has achieved the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) 9001:2008 certification, which demonstrates an organization’s commitment to quality-of-service standards.

"Achieving ISO 9001:2008 certification is a terrific milestone for both Layfield and our customers," said Mark Rose, General Manager at Layfield. "The certification process required a lot of hard work over a 12-month period and demonstrates Layfield's continued commitment to our customers and our quality of service.” ISO certification is nothing new for Layfield, as Layfield’s extrusion plant also located in Richmond, BC had been certified to the ISO 9001:2000 standard, and has recently been re-certified to the new standard.

The ISO 9001:2008 standard specifies Quality Management System (QMS) requirements focused on an organization's ability to meet and improve upon customer satisfaction and quality requirements. As part of the certification process, Layfield established its own QMS to ensure the organization continued its long-standing commitment to customer satisfaction. By identifying areas for improvement, creating recommendations to resolve identified gaps, and executing against these recommendations, Layfield is ensuring that it has the processes necessary to consistently improve service quality on a regular, quantifiable, and demonstrable basis.

Drake MacDonald, Production Manager at Layfield, comments, “Quality has always been the chief concern of everyone at this facility. I am very proud of our team here for achieving this very challenging milestone of ISO certification. Our customers can now be further assured that they will continue to receive the highest possible quality from Layfield.”

Layfield’s certification process began in September of 2008. In May 2009, the company executed internal audits to ensure it met the stringent standards set forth by ISO. QMI-SAI, an independent auditing agency conducted certification audits in August of this year, and certified that Layfield passed all ISO requirements and achieved full certification.

This ISO certification supports Layfield’s corporate objectives, while reinforcing a culture of excellence. As Layfield continues to expand in markets throughout North America, the ISO quality framework will assure our packaging customers that they will continue to receive the highest quality products and consistent service from Layfield.
