Layfield Technology Powers World-Class Containment at BHP Olympic Dam

BHP has completed a major liquid containment facility at its Olympic Dam site, marking its second large-scale installation using Layfield’s advanced HeatGard® geomembrane system. This milestone reinforces BHP’s leadership in environmental protection and engineering innovation, setting a global benchmark in containment excellence.

The facility features a double-lined system with integrated leak detection, built to the highest international standards. Both primary and secondary liners are made with HeatGard® geomembrane, integrating a bi-modal resin for superior durability and chemical resistance. Between the liners, HydraNet® HP conductive geocomposite with GeoVolt® enables continuous monitoring and rapid breach detection, helping to ensure long-term environmental safety.
